John Joseph Giblin

John Joseph Giblin passed away on January 6, 2023 after a brief illness, surrounded by family. He was born March 31, 1943 to Irene Wiener Giblin and Vincent Ferrer Giblin. John was preceded in death by his brother, Peter V. Giblin. John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen Kenny Giblin; and his children, Petra K. Rush, and Christina K. Giblin. A native of the Bronx, New York, he graduated from Manhattan College with a bachelor's of business administration in economics, and earned an master's of business administration in finance from Columbia University School of Business. As a senior investment manager and chief investment officer for various banks and investment firms, John worked internationally in North America, Europe and the Middle East, but spent most of his professional career on Wall Street. Vigorous physical activity was very important to John, and he delighted in introducing his daughters, as well as newcomers, to the sports he loved: rock climbing, ice climbing, hiking, and skiing. John's touchstone was his family, and in quieter moments, he could be found reading, gardening, tippling whisky and telling stories (some of them true!). He was, for many years, a member of the American Alpine Club, The Adirondack Mountain Club, the Colorado Mountain Club, and India House.
