August 2nd, 1962 - August 17th, 2024
In Loving Memory of John A. Graziano
John Anthony Graziano, 62, a remarkably talented artist of Davenport, Florida, passed away at his residence on August 17, 2024. Born on August 2, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of Anthony and Antoinette (Costello) Graziano.
John majored in Illustration at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts in New Jersey. Following his graduation, he began his career as an illustrator for a T-shirt company. However, it wasn't long before he landed his dream job, one he had envisioned since his teenage years. John applied as a youngster to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, only to receive an encouraging reply to reach out again in the future. He did. Several years later, John joined Ripley's Believe It or Not, where he became only the seventh artist to take up the pen since Robert Ripley himself. He dedicated 17 years as an illustrator, retiring in 2021. To John, his work at Ripley's never felt like a job; it was his passion. His dedication and creativity led him to the 73rd Annual NCS Reuben Awards. In 2018, John was a proud nominee for the NCS Divisional Award and was also recognized in the new category of Variety Entertainment, celebrating his unique illustrations across various media, including newspapers, magazines, and online comic features.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John had a deep love for collecting books, toys, artwork, and other treasures. He was also a talented musician, skilled in playing the bass and other instruments. Known for his humor, John delighted those around him with his remarkable ability to imitate voices. He was the life of the party, living his life on his own terms with a joyful spirit and a love for making others laugh. John also had a deep affection for his dog, who brought him immense joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Annette Graybush and husband, Stephen; nephews, Anthony and Matthew Graybush; close former wife, Carolyn Graziano and her daughters; Alison Bednarek and Erin Norman. He will be remembered not only for his artistic genius but also for his vibrant personality and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date
