Springdale—A graveside service for John B. Mackey, Jr., 59, of Springdale, will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tim Bupp will officiate. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Mr. Mackey, beloved husband of Cheryl L. Mackey, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Born in Greenville, he was a son of late John B. Mackey, Sr. and Bonnie Eugenia Hollingsworth Mackey. He enjoyed playing golf and loved playing and listening to music. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 3 years, Cheryl L. Mackey of Springdale; daughters, Leigh James of West Columbia and Gisselle Olson (Danny Paris) of Gaston; sons, John Paul Mackey (Tess) of Peyton, CO, Darren Olson (Lorri) of Lexington and Bobby James of Gaston; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, David Mackey (Jennifer) of Gaston; he is also survived by an extended loving family.
