John Edward Mateyka

June 13, 2012, John Edward Mateyka, 95, a native Coloradoan, took his final journey from his homestead where he lived and worked all of his life to take his place among Jesus and the angels in heaven.John was born to Frank and Katherine (Baizik) Mateyka on February 4, 1917.John lived a full life as a water well driller and a rancher. His strength, wisdom and sense of humor will be greatly missed.John is survived by his son Edward (Phyllis), two granddaughters; Kay (Elton), and Connie (James), and four great grandchildren; Hailey (Justin), Jamie, Daytona, and Ryker, sister in law Elaine and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vera, three brothers; Steve, Joseph and Frank Jr, and two sisters; Johanna and Margaret.The family would like to thank Cathy and Rachel, his caregivers, who were such a comfort to him in his final days, as well as Kate, Betty, and Lisa and the staff of Evercare Hospice for their care and support.Visitation will be 9:00AM Friday June 22, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
