LEXINGTON—A graveside service for John Patrick McArdle, 82, of Lexington, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2013 in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Dr. James D. Glatz will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. McArdle, beloved husband of Eileen L. McArdle, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Born in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Patrick and Kathleen Shanahan McArdle. John enjoyed golfing and gardening. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the VFW in Milford, Conn and was a member of the Men's League at St. Mark's Church in Stratford, Conn., where he also served as an usher. Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, Eileen L. McArdle; daughters, Audrey Boyn (Daniel) and Sheila Boyll; sons, John McArdle, Jr. (Tammy), Matthew McArdle (Jennifer) and Darren McArdle (Wilma); 7 grandchildren, Carli Boyll, Peter Strong, Jr., Amy Strong, Jesse Kennie, Kaitlyn McArdle, Jennifer and Matthew McArdle and 1 great-grandchild, Matthew Scott Scircle; also survived by 2 nieces; and his favorite Scottie, Molly. He was preceded in death by a brother, James McArdle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of SC, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
