After a 2 ½ year battle with cancer, John ""Michael"" McMillen passed away on July 17th, 2015 in Venice, FL at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Alison, his two daughters, Brianna (16) and Ally (14), his parents James and Joan, and his two brothers, James Edgar and George Patrick (Tania). Mike was born on August 29, 1959 in Kansas City, KS and was raised in St. Louis, MO. He graduated Cum Laude and was an Honorary Order of Omega Member at Missouri State University. Mike graduated in 1982 with a degree in Management and Marketing. Mike married Alison in 1998 and moved to Venice FL in 2002 where he worked for Georgia Hardwoods Inc since 2010. Mike was a driven professional always reminding everyone, ""Work Hard to Play Hard"" His family and friends will always remember him as a dedicated, fun loving family man and friend. When diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in Dec. 2012, he remained committed to his work and responsibilities while fighting his illness. Alison, Brianna and Ally want everyone to know that he will always be their hero. A memorial service for Mike will take place on Saturday, July 25th, 4pm at Farley Funeral Home, Venice. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Tidewell Hospice Center in Venice FL.
