MARINA JOHN PACK January 20, 1932 ? February 28, 2012 John Pack Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Marina at the age of 80. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and retired U.S. Army Soldier. John is preceded in death by his dear grandmother, ?Mumsy,? and his parents, Edgar and Marceline Pack. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Akiko Lillian Pack. He leaves behind his three sons, John Jr., Jim (Kim) and Bob (Kathy); his grandchildren, Landon (Amanda), Megan (Joel), Jarod, Natasha, Johnny, Bobby and his two great-grandchildren, Evan and Rylan Semling. John was a decorated pilot who retired after 20 years of Active Federal Service including Vietnam and Korea. He was honored as Monterey County?s Veteran of the year in 2004. John owned and operated two automotive businesses in Monterey and King City. Most recently, he enjoyed his role as Captain of the Freedom II, taking U.S. Veterans and military servicemen fishing in the Monterey Bay. For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
