John Portino

John Portino, 60, who lived in Haines City, Florida, passed away at his home on October 14, 2023. Born on November 18, 1962, in Mount Vernon, New York, to Domenico and Lena Colombo Portino. He moved to Florida in 1993, went back to New York briefly, tried Georgia in 1998, and settled back in Florida in 2015. John worked in construction for over 15 years and was of the Catholic faith. John truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Whether it was swimming, tanning, bowling, or playing pool, he always found happiness in these activities. His deep appreciation for the beach was evident, with Daytona being a frequent retreat for him. Constantly on the move, he embarked on road trips to visit his sister, Santa and nephew, Jaiden in New York. John was a perpetual optimist, trying his luck with lottery tickets and scratch-offs. An enthusiastic collector of Native American artifacts and a passionate fan of Harley Davidsons. John is remembered for his sense of humor and love for pranks and it was said that he lived his life to the fullest, cherishing each moment. He is preceded in death by his parents, Domenico and Lena. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Jacquelin Portino of Lauderhill, FL; son, Jonathan Portino and wife, Miranda of Fort Cambell, KY; former wife, Adrienne Rivera and husband, Jose; former son-in-law, Sean Castiglione; nephew, Jaiden Castro; brother, Nicky Portino of New Haven, CT; sister, Santa Castro and husband, Robert of Mahopac, NY; grandchildren, Taige Horvath, Brooke Portino, Dante Portino and Dominic Portino.
