In Loving Memory of John Richard Reardon Jr.

With profound sadness, we bid farewell to a man whose life was a testament to strength, wisdom, and love. John Richard Reardon Jr. (Jack), a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, partner, and friend peacefully departed this world at the age of 90, surrounded by  the family he held so dear.

Born to John and Edna Reardon, Jack embodied the essence of independence from his earliest . His upbringing instilled in him a resolute spirit, fostering a belief in the power of individual thought and action. Jack was a man of integrity, whose every action spoke volumes about his character.

In 1956, Jack found his anchor in Patricia Ann Fromm, embarking on a lifelong voyage of shared dreams and unwavering devotion. Their bond was a beacon of love, weathering life’s storms with grace and resilience. Though Patricia preceded him in death, their love of family is an inspiration to all who knew them.

As a father, Jack was the captain of his family’s ship, guiding them through the winds and tides of life with courage and determination. His love of sailing became a metaphor for his parenting—a steady hand at the helm, navigating his children through both calm waters and stormy seas. Jack was a pillar of strength and guidance, shaping the lives of his seven children: Kathy (Shawn), Michael (Paule), Mary (Doug), Diane (Daniel), Eileen (Neil), Paul, and Karen (Greg).

Jack instilled in them the values of independence, resilience, and compassion, nurturing them to become the best versions of themselves. His children, a living testament to his legacy, carry forward his teachings with pride, embodying the spirit of self-reliance and integrity that he imparted upon them.

Jack leaves behind his loving partner of the past 10 years Joan Cadigan, her children Linda and Seamus, and granddaughter Lori. He has a legacy of care and kindness, touching the lives of countless others in his community. His generosity knew no bounds, his wisdom was sought after, and his presence brought comfort to those in need.

In addition to his children, Jack is survived by grandchildren Gabe, Oliver, Peter, Mischa, Jeremy, Mathew, Isabel, Marlies, Karli, Eric, Bradley, Ashley, Amanda, Annie, Grace, John, Will, Jessica, and Zack and great-grandchildren Ashton, Calvin, Aviana, Isola, Armie, Theia and Tana whose laughter and joy brought light to his life.

Jack was also blessed with a loving sister, Mary Voelkl, and two cherished nephews, Skip and Mark. They shared memories and enduring affection, enriching Jack’s life in countless ways. As we mourn the loss of Jack, we find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will live on through the countless lives he has touched. Though he may no longer walk among us, his legacy of independence, resilience, and love will endure through his children and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Rest in peace, Jack. Your light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us through the days ahead.

Jack’s ashes will be interned at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Rochester, NY.  A celebration of his life will be held at Braddock’s Bay State Park on July 6th from noon to 3:00, where close family and friends are welcome to gather to honor his memory and share stories of this extraordinary man.

In lieu of flowers or any formal services, consider a donation to a Parkinsons Foundation, the Skin Cancer Foundation, a prayer or church service or some other meaningful way for you to remember Jack.
