Hopkins—John "Jeb" Edward Sparrow, 48, born in Charleston; he is the son of Edward O. Sparrow and Katherine Witsell Roberts. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm as well as the Gulf War. John "Jeb" was an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow, during his scouting days at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Troop 400. John retired from the Army National Guard. He was a former coach for football and baseball teams at Caughman Road Park. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Buchan. Inurnment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. The family will greet friends from 12:30-1:30 prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Surviving are his father, Edward O. Sparrow; his mother, Katherine W. Roberts and step-father, James A. Roberts, Sr.; son, Sean Sparrow of Hopkins; grandchildren, Sean Allston Sparrow, Jr. and Grayson Andrew Sparrow; sister, Christy A. Hall (Dave) of Tucson, AZ; as well as two step-brothers and two step-sisters.
