John was born on January 16, 1947, in Des Moines, IA, to Eugene and Velda (Coats) Stuart. After graduating from Southeast Polk High School in 1965, he attended Iowa State University and graduated from the College of Automation in Des Moines which kicked off a successful 52-year career in the engineering field. In April 1967 John enlisted in the Air National Guard and served for six years. John became licensed as an Ordained Minister on April 9, 2017. He and Sharon moved to Thornton in 1997. John’s faith has been a very important part of his life and after retiring at the age of 70, he increased his activities within his church community of Catch the Fire Boulder. He was an elder for six years, provided pre-marital and marital counseling, and ran the Bible College for five years. Along with Sharon, he oversaw communion and pre-service prayer every Sunday. He represented the church at a city-wide prayer meeting every Tuesday morning and did lots of maintenance and lawn work around the church. Also during his retirement years, John and Sharon travelled to Thailand to support the Akha Outreach Foundation, which is an orphanage providing a safe home environment and education for homeless kids. John is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughter, Tracy Stuart of Lakewood, son, Troy Stuart, daughter-in law, Mimi, and beloved granddaughter, Milan, all of Broomfield.
