Jonathan Clarke Lewis, 61, of Nokomis, FL, formerly of Riverside, RI, passed away at his home on Friday, May 25, 2007. Born in Providence, RI to the late Ralph Lewis and Mavis Verne Tingley, he graduated from East Providence High School in 1964. Mr. Lewis went to serve in Vietnam as a member of the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 196th Light Infantry Brigade. After serving his country he became a Merchant Marine and worked on various ships around the world for Mobil Oil. Mr. Lewis also had worked in the restaurant industry in Rhode Island as well as Cape Cod, MA. After 35 years residency in Riverside, he came to Florida in 1988, and worked as a concierge at the Everglades Club in Palm Beach until his retirement. Jonathan was an active member of the VFW, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine J. Pearl; two brothers, Harry and Richard Lewis, both of Venice, FL. A memorial gathering will be 2-4 PM on Tues. May 29th at the Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Veteran’s organization of your choice.
