Loving husband, father and brother, Joseph ""Joe"" Anthony Cascio, 60, of Venice, FL, formerly of West Haven, CT, died April 14, 2017. Joe was born May 1, 1956 in New Haven, CT to Helen (Leone) and Joseph Cascio. Joe graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, class of 1974. He received his Bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his Master's degree from University of New Haven. He worked as a manager/supervisor for various companies before joining the West Haven Police Department as a police officer, which he retired from in 2000. Prior to retirement, Joe was awarded The Medal of Merit. He was an officer of the DARE Unit of West Haven Police Department and member of the Elks' Lodge in West Haven, CT. Joe taught 5th grade CCD, belonged to the Medjugorje prayer group and was involved in the RCIA at Our Lady of Lourdes. Joe enjoyed camping, weekend getaways, going to the gym and body building. Joe was an avid runner and recently participated in 5k races. Survivors include beloved wife, Cynthia; 3 children: Marissa of Venice, FL, Adam of Orlando, FL and Rebeca of Seattle, WA; brother, John (wife, Tina) Cascio of East Haven, CT; two sisters: Judith Pfister of North Haven, CT and Elena (husband, Bob) Boiselle of Marco Island, FL; sister-in-law, Deb (husband, Guy) Varga-Torgersen of Litchfield, NH; brother-in-law, Bill (wife, Robyn) Varga of Nashua, NH; in-laws, Audrey and David Varga of Nashua, NH; 8 nephews, 4 nieces and several great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with inurnment in the church garden following the Mass. Memorial Donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice, FL 34292.
