Joseph R. McKenna, age 76, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 while under the care of hospice. Joseph was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on September 16, 1942. Joseph proudly served in the United States Coast Guard before joining the Providence Fire Department where he worked for 33 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. Joseph and his family moved to The Villages from Cumberland, Rhode Island in 2004. He is survived by his wife Joan (Worsley) McKenna; son Joseph (Joel) McKenna and daughter Kerri McKenna-Rigby; and his grandchildren Ashleigh, Michael, Victoria and Emily; and his brother Milton F McKenna and his wife Sharon. He is preceded in death by his dad Joseph L. McKenna and mother Barbara (Brown) McKenna. On Saturday, September 21, 2019 a gathering will be held from 10- 11 am with a Celebration of Life at 11 am, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162. Online condolences may be shared with the family at hiers-baxley.com. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, The Villages.
