Joseph P. Sherlock, age 82, recently of North Port, formerly 30 years of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on December 14, 2014. He was born on October 5, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. Joseph was a graduate of Boston College and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a Service Officer Commander and life member of the D.A.V. Chapter 97 in Sarasota; Chaplain of the Elks Lodge, Falmouth, Mass. and a Catholic by faith. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; seven children, Edward Sherlock, Victoria Driscoll, Pamela Geggatt, Gloria Goulart, Joseph Sherlock, John Sherlock, JuliaJane Marquis and a brother, Thomas Sherlock. He also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in North Port on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 11:00AM-12:00PM with a funeral service to immediately follow. A private burial with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
