Joseph Silva

Joseph Silva of Davenport, Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. He was 93 years old. He was born on July 31, 1928 in Oporto, Portugal to Jose and Maria Martinez Silva. He came to the United States when he was 20 years old, settling in Long Island, New York where he raised his family. In 1998, he moved to St. Augustine, Florida after having moved to Oklahoma years before. Joseph retired from Silverite Construction Co. in Hicksville, New York. He had worked there many years. In his retirement years, he spent time at flea markets where he would buy things, repair them and resell them. It was not so much for the profit but more for the fun of it. Joseph loved going to Cornerstone Church in Davenport and realized the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was saddened that the pandemic had changed his ability to attend as he wished to. He is predeceased by his parents, Jose and Maria; wife Alice Silva; children Ilene Passamano, Francine Silva and Laura Silva; grandchildren Christina; Jennifer and great- grandchild Jaydon. Joseph is survived by his children, Lydia Lago of Ridge, New York, Alice Tsakonas and her husband Chris of Davenport, Florida, Lorraine Tsakonas and her husband Nick of Davenport, Florida, Joseph Silva III of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, as welll as 1 great-great grandson, Bryson. A visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at Cornerstone Church 101 Cornerstone Church Pl Davenport, Florida 33897 from 2 pm-3pm. A celebration of Joseph’s life will follow at 3:00 pm.
