Joseph Leonard Zapora
May 12th, 1930 - April 15th, 2018
Joseph Leonard Zapora, age 87, passed away after brief hospitalization on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Joseph "Joe" was born in Patterson, New Jersey on May 12, 1930. He grew up in eastern Pennsylvania. With his wife, Gladys Zapora, he spent most of his working life in Spotswood, New Jersey. He was a factory worker at Dupont, then a toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike, and was elected to the local school board. He moved to Georgia in retirement, then on to Summerfield, Florida. Joe was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed collecting antiques and coins and going to flea markets. He was a proud Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his son, Carl J. Zapora, Edmonds, Washington. He leaves behind his partner, Dottie Mulhern. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, April 28, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL 32159, with the family receiving friends for a reception right after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's honor to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made to the family and additional information at www.hiers-baxley.com.
