Joy Yvonne Cuddy 73, wife, mother, and grandmother peacefully passed away with her family surrounding her in the early morning hours of June 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Joy was born on October 8, 1942 in Monrovia, California to Mary and Gaylord Crichton. She spent most of her younger years in Monrovia helping her widowed mother with raising her siblings and visiting her Grandparents. Joy graduated Monrovia High School in 1959 and attended Citrus Jr. College where she studied accounting. Besides being an amazing mother and wife, Joy also worked hard outside the home. Joy worked on one of the first computers as a data processing control clerk for Conrac Corporation in Los Angeles, For many years she was a school registrar at Palm Desert Middle School and Indio High School. Lastly, she was the gate attendant at lake Hemet Campground where she retired. In 2005, Joy and her husband moved to Apache Junction, Arizona. Joy enjoyed being with family, her pets, enjoying the mountains, going on cruises, playing online games, working with blogs and photoshopping pictures on her computer, Phoenix Mercury games, camping, old romantic movies, and having a good laugh. In her younger years, she had an adventurous side and enjoyed riding 3 wheel motorcycles ATC's dune buggy's, and camping in the Sand Dunes. As a fact, one time in Chester California, camping by a creek she challenged her family that she could catch a trout with her bare hands. Everyone laughed, so she rolled her pants up, marched to the creek, and to everyone's disbelief, she pulled a large trout out of the creek with her bare hands! Joy leaves behind Michael John Cuddy, her loving husband of almost 48 years and her four daughters Deborah Anne Clayton married to Bill Clayton, Arlene Michelle Howarth married to David Howarth, Shelley Lee Barcley married to Ted Barckey, and Christy Cuddy married to Jessica Foster. She also has two of the most precious grandchildren that have grown up to be amazing adults, Deedra Jonas and Bobby Ryan. She is also survived by her siblings Gaylord Chrichton, Melody Chrichton, Lucky Crichton, and Harold Hutton, as well as her beloved pets Goldie, Whiskers, and Suzi. A small service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, California where Joy will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents-in-law Norma and Michael Cuddy on Friday, July 1st at 10:00 A.M. Joy was a loving wife, Mother, and Grandmother who always loved, welcomed, and made everyone feel important and significant. She will be deeply missed and her memory will live on with nothing but love.
