Karl Theodore Kelnhofer

January 22nd, 1938 - July 22nd, 2024

In loving memory of our father, Karl Kelnhofer, who passed away surrounded by loved ones on 22 July 2024, he was 86. He is survived by and was the devoted husband of Karen (Arndt) Kelnhofer, loving father of Steven Kelnhofer and Lauri Kelnhofer, grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of 15. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Karl, born to Theodore & Rose Kelnhofer in Antigo, WI, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. One of the kindest souls on this planet, our father was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage and was a role model to many.

Early in life, our father learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in us. He was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or just a shoulder to cry on. He was a man of strong faith, and he taught us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.

Our father was a remarkable man who we will always look up to.

Dad, you are now at peace, but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I only knew Karl but for a moment in time. Five weeks to be exact. But in those five weeks I quickly learned that he was the most gentlest person I have ever come across. He was kind to all, a great story teller, and a lover of birds. He was such a jokester. After our rides to the supermarket Publix he'd joke to his wife Karen on how I hit three cars on the way home and how I roasted him for driving with the windows down. Karl adored his wife Karen whom he said took forever to find, loved his son Steve whom he said was a hard worker, and loved his daughter Lauri whom he said was the sweetest person. Ophi, Steve's wife had a special place in his heart too, he always called her the boss. We love you and miss you Karl, I will feed your birds, we all will, and may you rest in peace my dear friend.

Ron and Karen

Like Karl, I grew up in Wisconsin. While I live in Florida, I have a summer home in Wisconsin, a short ride from his hometown of Antigo. Every time we drive through Antigo, we smile and picture Karl and Karen walking the streets. When we traveled back to Florida in the fall, I loved bringing him Wisconsin Beef Sticks, Sultz, and Cheese. I knew he enjoyed tasting these Wisconsin goodies, just like I did when my parents sent them to me when I was deployed overseas. I can see Karl's values reflected in his son K9—honesty, integrity, fairness, and caring--an honorable man. We will miss his smile, sense of humor, and welcoming personality. May our lord and savior bless Karl, his family, and friends.

Valerie Kelnhofer

I had the pleasure of meeting this great man a few times. Karl was so nice, he told amazing stories and had the most calming persona. Everytime I met him, he had the biggest smile on his face and seemed so excited to ask about everyone else’s day. I am blessed I got to meet Karl and so grateful he got to meet my children. He will forever be known as the “grandpa who lets us feed the animals.” ❤️ You are truly missed, we love you! -Valerie
