Katherine "Dee Dee" Matthews
May 10th, 1953 - March 30th, 2017
West Columbia—Katherine "Dee Dee" Matthews 62, wife of Joel Matthews passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was born on May 10, 1953 in Columbia, SC. to Evelyn Reusch and the late Lindis "Rudy" Burnett. Mrs. Matthews graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1971. She was a Clemson graduate and was retired from Time Warner Cable Co. She was a beloved spouse, mother and loving grandmother, attended Trinity Baptist church and was also an avid bookworm. In addition to her husband of 21 years and mother, Dee Dee is survived by two sons; Donald Grey Pegram and Christopher Michael Pegram; two sisters, Marjorie Rish (Derwin) and Linda Shull; a brother, Michael Burnett (Michele); one grandchild, Ashton Riley Pegram; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 10:45am prior to the service at the funeral home.
