November 11th, 1947 - July 22nd, 2024
In loving Memory
Kathleen “Kathy” Griffin of Hopkins, passed away on July 22, 2024. She was 76 years old.
Kathy was born on November 11, 1947 to Captain Francis R. Hackett and Celestial Mae Neafus Hackett in Louisville, Kentucky. Kathy was regarded as an “Army brat” who loved to travel. Her favorite places to go were France and Germany. She worked as a hairstylist, as well as for Westinghouse for five years as an inspector. Kathy is best remembered for being a great cook and an excellent baker, with her best dessert being her cherry cheesecake. She also enjoyed showing Cocker Spaniels. She enjoyed crafting and was an avid decorator, especially during Christmas time. She was the proud owner of Karolina Karaoke, was a phenomenal singer who performed karaoke in several bars, and especially loved to sing Fleetwood Mac songs. Her family will deeply and profoundly miss her, and will cherish all the moments they were able to spend with her enjoying her food or just her warmth and light.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Jessica Renee Hackett.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Bennie Griffin; brother Arthur H. Deters Jr (Pamela) of Tucson, AZ; sister Elaine H. Rutledge of Greenwood, SC; son Todd Hackett of Hopkins, SC; daughter Darlene Hood of Batesburg, SC; and grandsons Andrew Steven Hood and William Alexander Hood of Columbia, SC.
