Keith Decker
September 21st, 1941 - March 18th, 2010
Keith was born in Tipton, Indiana, the third child of Elmer and Dorthea Decker. He graduated in 1960 from I.S.S.C. High School in Knightstown, IN. In July 1960 he enlisted into the US Army and retired at Ft. Lewis, WA December 1980. After Basic Training and AIT in Ft. Hood, TX Keith was transferred to Germany where he met and married Eugenia in September 1963 (now Mrs. James Root of Colorado Springs). Later Keith was transferred to Rhode Island where Evelyn Sue was born and later to Ft. Richardson, AL where Jonilla Ann was born. After retiring from the service Keith worked for the Everett Herald in Everett, WA in data operations and later as a supervisor. In 1982 Keith met and married Susan Ricketts of Everett. While living in Everett Monique Mae-Jean and later Jeremy Alan-Ricketts were born. In 1993 Keith and his family relocated to Colorado Springs, where they continued to raise their family. Preceded in death are his father Elmer Decker, step-fathers Noah Roby and Arthur Estep, daughter Evelyn Baker, and siblings, Robert Decker, Terry Decker, Roberta Roby and Sharon Walker. He is survived by his mother Dorthea Roby (Indianapolis), wife Susan Decker (Colorado Springs), daughters Jonilla Kaye (Metamora, MI), Monique Decker (Evanston, WY), son Jeremy Decker (Minot, ND), grandson Travis Baker (Colorado Springs), sisters and husbands Kay & Jim Nichols (Indianapolis), Kathy & Delbert Bateman (Colorado Springs) and numerous nephews and nieces. Keith was known for his gregarious, “never having met a stranger” personality. Which was best displayed as “going to coffee” and was often seen at the Waffle House. Keith was a one of a kind individual who will leave a hole in our hearts. Donations can be made to Army Emergency Relief for Ft. Carson, (866) 878-6378 or www.aerhq.org.
