Keith W. Slocum, 84, of Venice, FL, formerly of Arcade, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2017 surrounded by family. Keith was born on December 8, 1932 in Farmersville Sta., NY to Paul and Elce Slocum. He graduated from Rushford Central School, class of 1950, and attended Jamestown Community College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He married the love of his life, the formedr Arletta Smith, on July 14, 1956. He was the previous owner of Knight Insurance Agency and The Butternut Inn. Keith was past president of the Arcade Kiwanis Club and past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis. He was past president of the Venice Shrine and a member of Sahib Shrine. A member of the Venice Shrine Lodge #301. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic organization. A member of the Venice United Church of Christ, he served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Trustees. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Arletta, of Venice, FL; daughter, Denise (Daniel) Reisdorf, of Arcade, NY; sons Mark (special friend Sharon) Slocum of Venice, FL and Eric (Joanne) Slocum of Arcade, NY; brother, David Slocum of Farmersville Station, NY; sister, Janet Lucille Taylor of Elba, NY; grandchildren, Adam, Kyle, Laura, Jacob, Taylor, Megan, Ryan, and Matthew; four great grandchildren; and six nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth, in 1997. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 11AM at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel. Burial will be in Arcade Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
