Kenneth Erland Lake

Kenneth Erland Lake, 74 of Wright, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home. He was born April 23, 1934 near Wright. Kenny graduated from Cromwell High School in 1952 and served in the Army from 1953 - 1956 during the Korean conflict. Kenny married Alice Olson on July 26, 1958 and they raised their four children on their farm west of Cromwell. Kenny had been employed by Conoco at their Wrenshall, MN and Billings, MT oil refineries, retiring in 1989 after 29 years of service. Kenny's retirement was filled with pocket watch dealings, hunting, dancing, welding, cribbage, spending time with family and friends and many, many games of pool. He always enjoyed his Monday pool league, accumulating many trophies over the years which he proudly displayed on his shelves. Kenny's highlight of this past summer was his 50th wedding anniversary that he immensely enjoyed with his family and friends. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Cromwell, Monday Pool League and Masonic Lodge #248 in Moose Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Aune Lake; his son, Michael Lake and a sister, Jody Lake. Kenny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice of Wright; three daughters, Patti (Keith) Switzer of Cromwell, Cindy Lake of Las Vegas, NV and Jill (Jim) Koivisto of Cloquet; two sisters, Eunice Harder of Troy, MI and Lois Fredrickson of Eugene, OR; two brothers, David Lake (Sharon Randall) of Henderson, NV and Dennis (Anita) Lake of Mahtowa; seven grandchildren, Corey, Carl, Michelle, Ken, Brianna, Alyson and Jacob; three great grandsons, Lane, Louis and Austin and a very large circle of friends. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Cromwell/Wright First Responders and Ambulance volunteers, Pastor Janeva Stromberg and to the community for the outpouring of love and support extended to them. Memorial Services were held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Private family inurnment was in Wright Public Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
