Laura Covington Neal-Shealy
September 26th, 1956 - October 2nd, 2013
GASTON—Laura Covington Neal-Shealy, 57, of Gaston, passed away on October 2, 2013. Born in Wadesboro, NC, she was a daughter of Rev. Richard Covington and Nancy Ingram Covington. She was a longtime resident for the past 51 years, formerly of Albemarle, NC. She worked from many years as a hairdresser and was devoted to her friends and family. Laura enjoyed life! She was a very caring person and lovingly stubborn. Surviving are her husband, Chuck Shealy; sons, Brian McClean Neal, Joseph Ray Neal, (Brittany Jackson), step-son, Caleb Dain Shealy; sister, Nan Covington Moorer; brother, Dr. Richard Sheffield Covington, grandchild, Jonathan Ray Neal; nephews, Zachary Ryan Moorer, Dylan R. Covington and niece, Maylee S. Covington and her dog, Chunk aka "Boo-Boo". She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Johnnie Ray Neal who died February 21, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leapheart Rd., West Columbia, 29169 with the Rev. Eric Friedrich officiating. Memorials may be made the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
