Laura Covington Neal-Shealy

GASTON—Laura Covington Neal-Shealy, 57, of Gaston, passed away on October 2, 2013. Born in Wadesboro, NC, she was a daughter of Rev. Richard Covington and Nancy Ingram Covington. She was a longtime resident for the past 51 years, formerly of Albemarle, NC. She worked from many years as a hairdresser and was devoted to her friends and family. Laura enjoyed life! She was a very caring person and lovingly stubborn. Surviving are her husband, Chuck Shealy; sons, Brian McClean Neal, Joseph Ray Neal, (Brittany Jackson), step-son, Caleb Dain Shealy; sister, Nan Covington Moorer; brother, Dr. Richard Sheffield Covington, grandchild, Jonathan Ray Neal; nephews, Zachary Ryan Moorer, Dylan R. Covington and niece, Maylee S. Covington and her dog, Chunk aka "Boo-Boo". She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Johnnie Ray Neal who died February 21, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leapheart Rd., West Columbia, 29169 with the Rev. Eric Friedrich officiating.
