Lee "Leobarda" "Livita" Maceda
January 18th, 1931 - September 8th, 2021
On September 8, 2021, Lee "Leobarda" "Livita" Maceda passed away peacefully in the early morning in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 90. Livita is survived by her daughters, Ruth Cisneros-Maceda of Phoenix Arizona and Razz Irasema Cortes-Maceda of Denver, Colorado, and a nephew, whom she raised, Alex Fuentes-Maceda of Chicago IL; her sister, Asuncion Maceda-Vasquez of Chicago, Illinois; her ten grandchildren: Gabriel Suarez, Melissa Zieman; Doris, Adrian, Carlos Manuel, & Ricardo Cisneros; Gabrielle & Carmelo Corica; Marlene & Mallory Fuentes, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Aurelia Maceda Vasquez; her son, Manuel "Manolo" Cisneros Maceda; her grandson, Julio Cesar Cisneros; her mother, Josefina Vasquez Diaz; and her father, Manuel Maseda Pernas. Livita was born in Cardel, Veracruz, Mexico in 1931. She married Nicolas Cisneros Portugal in 1947 and they welcomed two children together, Ruth and Manolo. Years later, with her then-partner, Carlos Cortes Lechuga, she welcomed a daughter, Irasema. She was a tenacious woman who emigrated from Mexico in the early-1960's to Chicago; her children joined her in 1965. She found new success and a new community there, eventually achieving a life-long goal of opening and owning her own restaurants. In Chicago she created a beautiful, loving home, one that became the nucleus for her extended family and friends and where she would host family gatherings and milestone events. She was a true lover of the performing arts and even appeared as an extra in a few Mexican films during the early 1950's. She was a lifelong music aficionado and would gladly serenade anyone within earshot with her favorite rancheras, ballads or boleros. Livita had a unique sense of fashion. She was witty, generous, quick with a joke, pun or tongue twister, confident, fond of recitation - even of her own poems. She made spectacular mole poblano and she loved to dance. She was frequently the life of the party and she will be missed dearly. ******************************************************************************** El 8 de septiembre de 2021, Lee "Leobarda" "Livita" Maceda falleci pacficamente durante la maana en la ciudad de Aurora, Colorado, a la edad de 90 aos.
