LeRoy W. Suhren
April 23rd, 1921 - May 11th, 2014
LeRoy W. Suhren, 93, of Venice, FL, formerly of Bridgeport, CT passed away May 11, 2014 at his home in Florida. Mr. Suhren served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, earning status as a hero for his saving of one soldier. After returning from WW II he ran for Alderman of Bridgeport, CT. LeRoy was also a pioneer in the telecommunications industry, working his way through Southern Bell to AT&T as a facilities Assigner. LeRoy was a member of the Port Charlotte (FL) Elks Lodge, the VFW Myakka Post (FL), and the American Legion. He also served as Director of the Civic Association G.G.C., and as a member of the Security Patrol at G.G. Cove. He is survived by his loving daughter Sandra Suhren and her husband of 35 years, Glenn McComb of Kearney, MO; a granddaughter Tara McComb of Hoschton, GA, and great granddaughter Leah Katlin McComb, also of Hoschton, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Lillian Hewitt. Leroy will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Vivian in a graveside service with military honors at Manasota Memorial Park in Florida.
