Lester Donald Thuesen

Lester "Les" Thuesen, formerly of Widefield and Nathrop, CO, departed this life, surrounded by his loving family on December 6th, 2014. He was born in 1936, Pasadena, CA, the youngest of three children to Viggo and Dorothy Thuesen. Les graduated from John Muir High School, with honors, a year early in 1953, and after high school, followed his dream of serving his country and enlisted into the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 23 years, at home and abroad, retiring in 1976 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Les entered Civil Service, working on Ft. Carson for 11 years, where upon he and LaNell then attained their goal of becoming "Snow Birds," traveling in their RV throughout the Southwest for twelve years. Les married the former Orean LaNell McKenzie, San Diego, CA, in 1961. The month of February would have seen them celebrating their 54th anniversary. Their union produced three children, Laurie, Lisa and Larry Thuesen. Preceding Les in death were his parents; brother Richard, son Larry, and daughter Lisa Thuesen-Blunck. Les is survived by his sister, Greta Thuesen, Pasadena, CA; wife LaNell, Nathrop, CO; daughter Laurie Thuesen-Bechert (Andrew), Fountain; Grandsons Kevin Bechert (Amber) Colorado Springs; Ryan Bechert (Tonita), Fountain, CO; SSgt Travis Blunck (Kimberly) Ft. Dodge, IA; Kyle Blunck, Loveland, CO; Great Grandchildren Audrieanna and Braydon Bechert, Colorado Springs; Leah, Isabella and Tyler Bechert, Fountain; Kaylie and Parker Blunck, Ft. Dodge, IA; nephews Eric and Leif Thuesen and so many wonderful friends! We wish to thank the super physicians and nurses of the Heart of the Rockies Medical Center in Salida, CO; Johanna and the hospice team at Heart of the Rockies Home and Hospice Care, Salida, CO; Jennifer Graves and the wonderful staff of Cheyenne Place, Colorado Springs, CO; and the many dedicated and caring personnel at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, Colorado Springs, CO. Cremation has occurred. There will be no service.
