Lewis Levern Springs , 79 , of West Columbia , South Carolina passed away October 15, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center West Columbia , South Carolina . He was born on December 11, 1936 in Timmonsville , South Carolina to the late Yancy and Evelyn (Jarrell ) Springs .Lewis was a kind man with a generous heart. He was very hard working man and retired after over 41 years with Overnight Transportation and an additional 10 years with Carolina International Trucking. Lewis was very good with his hands. He had an abundance of common sense and could figure out how fix things for his own home and for the neighbors. Lewis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline (Carnell) Springs, one son, Tim Springs. He is also survived by his brothers: Ernest Springs, Walter Springs (Teen), Yancy "Boogie" Springs (Gail) and a sister: Patricia Springs. He was preceded in death by:a daughter Robin (Springs) Cooper The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia SC 29169 on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 1 PM until 2 PM. Funeral services will be in the chapel of the funeral home following the family visitation with Pastor Mark Bredholt officiating. Interment will be at Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC 29170. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the the animal shelter of one's choice
