Lois came to Haines City in January of 1991. Almost immediately she became active in the community. Secretary to Main Street Director, Heddy Weddington. Active in her church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Haines City, where her husband was the rector. Actively involved in Inner Wheel for 29 years, a long-term member of the Wednesday Book Club and the Sandspur Garden Club. Lois supported many local charities. Lois never really met anyone she did not like and was always willing to help whenever needed. She made friends wherever she went and was dearly loved by her husband, family and more friends than she realized. Lois will be deeply missed by everyone she ever met and even by many who she helped and never met her personally. If ever there was an angel on earth Lois was that. Those of us who mourn will never forget her and pledge to follow her good works as best we are able to do

Lois often asked herself “why do people like me”, never assuming that she was kind, gentle, compassionate, caring, helpful honest, generous, giving Christian without a trace of greed or conceit. A true example of what is means to be a humanitarian

She will be deeply and sincerely missed God gained another angel in the kingdom Our loss is God’s gain.

Pray for the family and each other.

Oh, Lois. Dear aunt Lois. We will miss you. Hers was the very first name I ever learned. At age one or two, I knew "Daddy", "Mommy", and "Oh-ee." Lois is sister to my father, Jay Ross. She was my mother Betty's very close friend. Lois lived at that time directly downstairs from us in a tenement in Belleville. All through my childhood, a visit from Lois and Hugh and their kids was a highly anticipated event. My heart still leaps when I hear their names. My wife Mary Ann and I, and all of our children treasure our memories of Lois. When I was searching for photos of her, I was surprised to find so very few. It seems to me today that her presence, her warmth and her attentiveness were always so close and immediate that I did not think to put a camera between us. Nothing shall come between you and God forever, Lois.

Mark and I will always fondly remember Aunt Lois. She was so thoughtful and kind and really, really good at keeping in touch with all her family and friends up here in the great white north. We are so sorry we couldn’t make it to pay our respects in person but please know we are thinking of you Uncle Hugh, Jay and Marisa and wishing you all well as you find your way through your loss. Love, Jane and Mark Foster
