Loretta Haynes (Granny) Hudson was born on January 29, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Ms. Daisy Williams. Granny attended Jane Edwards School on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Granny relocated to Columbia, SC in 1964. And from there, Granny worked faithfully at Fort Jackson for many years, doing what she loved best and work other places. Granny loved playing her bingo all the time especially when her brother Daniel was with her. Granny a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother who loved spending time with her entire family near and far making sure that everyone was having fun and leaving a smile on their face. Granny’s favorite saying: "I can't stand that." Granny loved cooking red rice, collard greens and bread pudding especially for her grandchildren. A Time To Rest: On April 9, 2024@7:02am God saw fit to call his daughter home saying: “Come on up Granny, your battle has been fought and your victory has been won." Granny was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Haynes (Bobby), and sisters, Carrie B. Wright, Daisy Richards, and Annie H. Mack. Granny leaves to cherish her fond memories, her loving children, Melissa (Anthony) Biel of Woodbridge ,VA, Arthur Haynes of Ravenel, SC, Christopher Hudson of Moncks Corner, SC, Loretta Green and Maxine Boyd of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Paul (Stella) Williams of North Charleston, SC, Daniel (Bernetha) A. Middleton of Ravenel, SC; two sisters, Gwendolyn and Gloria Middleton of Ravenel, SC; 14 grandchildren, Sherman (Claudia) Howell, Elgin (Audrey) Rhodan of Summerville, SC, Latoya (Gene) Pearson of Columbia, SC, Iris Howell of Columbia, SC, Shenida (Terrall) Hudson of Columbia, SC, April (Lance) Haymon of Columbia, SC; one nephew, Nathaniel Scott of Edisto Island, SC; 32 great grands; 5 great-great grands; three special friends, Peggy Rush, Darnell Richardson and Kenny Buxton of Columbia, SC.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years.
