Lori Lynn Geving
September 4th, 1964 - June 13th, 2020
Lori Lynn "Grandma Meow" Geving, 55, of Cloquet passed away on June 13, 2020 with her children by her side in St. Luke's ICU after suffering a brain aneurysm. She was the 11th of 13 children born to Chester and Joanne Tobolaski on September 4, 1964. She attended Proctor High School. She married John Geving on November 22, 1982. They moved to and raised their two children in Esko, Minnesota. Lori worked at Gordy's Hi-Hat in the mid to late 1980s before moving onto working as a manufacturing operator at USG in 1990. While working at USG she made many friendships over the years and many trips with the girls. The trip to Jamaica was by far her favorite of all. Lori was known for her huge personality, unbelievably tall wedge shoes and long nails, as well as her dirty sense of humor. She had a contagious smile and laughter. Lori would meet regularly with her sisters and niece to play cards where foul language and shouts of pain were expected. On the weekends, she could often be found on the dance floor, lovingly known as one of the "Twisted Sisters". In her downtime, Lori enjoyed tending to her plants and gardening as well as agate picking. There was no such thing as too many plants or agates. In more recent years, she started hiking and started picking up disc golf with Javaile. Lori was always proud to be a mom. She loved fiercely and unconditionally. She enjoyed attending and cheering on her children's sporting events, especially Johnny's where her whistle could be heard a mile away. Lori adored being Grandma Meow to her grandbabies. She looked forward to taking her grandbabies on grandma dates to Pedro's and a movie. Her grandma kisses always followed with roaring laughter. Even though life often threw her curveballs, she never let it get in the way of her living her best life. She had unwavering faith and spiritual beliefs, that everything would work out one way or another. She never gave up and always pushed forward. Lori was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, John Geving; brother, Philip Tobolaski; sister, Kathy Benko; mother-in-law, Elaine Geving; brother-in-law, Dale Nelson; niece, Destiny Farrow; and nephew, Dale Nelson Jr. She is survived and is missed by her daughter, Brandy (John Blanchard) Geving; son, John (Nicole East) Geving; grandchildren, Tanner Geving and Mya Einberger; brothers, Steve (Patty) Tobolaski, Chester (Jan) Tobolaski, Chad Tobolaski, Blaine (Sue) Tobolaski, David (Chandra) Tobolaski, brothers-in-law, Jim Benko and Chuck Neufeld; sisters, Beverly Nelson, Sharon Farrow, Barbara Motschenbacher, Jodi (Kelly) Larsen, and Lisa Neufeld; sisters-in-law, Nancy Tobolaski, Jennifer Geving; and countless nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. The Memorial Service will be held at a later date due to the pandemic as she was loved by so many. Letters and cards of condolence may be sent to the family c/o Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet, MN 55720.
