Lottie Shuko
March 11th, 1926 - October 5th, 2019
Obituary Lottie Ramona Shuko, a long-time resident of Longmont, died Wednesday the 5th of October in her home. Born in 1926 in Cambridge, MA, Lottie worked for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company after high school. She then earned a degree in banking and went on to become a teller at the Mt. Vernon Cooperative Bank in Boston. In 1947, she married the late Alfred Stephen Shuko of Boston. They moved to Dorchester, MA and later to Danvers, MA, where she raised their two daughters. In a career shift, she took a position as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of the Middleton Public Schools in Middleton, MA, where she especially enjoyed interacting with students. After moving to Longmont, she volunteered delivering Meals On Wheels and also serving lunch to students in the Niwot Elementary School cafeteria. She was a familiar face in town as she rarely, if ever, missed her grandchildrens athletic or school events. Lottie loved socializing and was always willing to join in the fun! Many weekends were filled with polka dancing. She never took life or herself too seriously and lived by the adage, You only go this way once! Lottie loved her family fiercely and was loyal to her friends. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Cynthia Ashcroft of Blue Hill, ME and Carolyn Shuko Sutherland of Longmont CO, son-in-law John Cody Sutherland also of Longmont, and grandchildren Jonathan Ashcroft, Stephen Ashcroft, Anna Vavra Sutherland, William Alfred Sutherland and Reid Shuko Sutherland.
