Louis Wayne Schnitzer
July 15th, 1947 - October 19th, 2023
Louis Wayne Schnitzer left us on October 19, 2023. Lou was a long-time resident of Saint Pe-tersburg, Florida, but grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. His personality was as big as his heart, and his eyes were more crystal blue than a Carolina sky. Our dear brother, friend, and animal lover will be missed by loving sister, Lynn, who called every day to talk to Lou, and his extended family of life-long friends and neighbors, and loving strays, like Toni and Welsh Terrier, Teddy. An electrician by trade, Lou spent his free time with friends, and loved motorcycles, live music, animals of all shapes and sizes, the beach, gardening, and fishing. Lou resided briefly in Vir-ginia Beach, where he practiced martial arts and developed an affinity for Vietnamese food and culture. Our Lou was feisty, funny, loud, gentle to animals, sometimes goofy, and often a bit of a hand-ful. Though our grief is vast, we take comfort knowing Lou is with his parents, Arthur and Lydia, his brother, Steven, pets Nikki, Trevor and Whiskers, and his dear old friend, Franklin. We would like to extend gratitude to many friends and neighbors for the care and assistance they continue to provide during this difficult time. An open-house gathering will be held at Lou’s, in the back yard, on Saturday, November 11 from 4:30pm to 7pm. We will have a bonfire and share stories of the time we were fortunate to spend with Louis Schnitzer. Anyone who plays an instrument is invited to bring it along and play some music to honor Lou, and bring peace, as we celebrate the life of someone who gave us so much joy and laughter. Another gathering will take place next year for family and friends unable to attend on the 11th. Instead of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter, in honor of Louis Wayne Schnitzer, who loved so many animals throughout his life.
