WEST COLUMBIA:Funeral services for Louise Daniel Crews, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2011, at Brookland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. J. Wayne Smith. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young At Heart Members. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Crews grandsons. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church, General Fund, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29201. Mrs. Crews, widow of William Thomas Crews, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Born in Campbell County, VA., she was the daughter of the late Walter W. Daniel and Katie Louise Roberts Daniel. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter W. Daniel, Jr., of Gladys, VA and sister, Eloise Daniel Ward of Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Crews has been an area resident since 1951. She was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church of West Columbia, where she worked at many positions including the Youth Fellowship, the Young at Heart, the Helen Shull Women's Circle and was a member of the Loyal Worker's Sunday School Class. She was also active in the G Avenue Garden Club and the Arsenal Hill Senior Club. Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, William T. Crews, Jr. (Judith) of West Columbia, Daniel E. Crews (Lillian) of South Congaree and John B. Crews (Deborah) of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Kim Peterson, Jim Crews, Tom Crews, Cara Robinson, Rob Crews, Dan Crews, Shelby Flann, Nikki Edwards, and Hunter Crews; also twelve great grandchildren.
