Louise Marie Lavelle, 89, of Venice passed away on July 8, 2021. Born on July 4, 1932 to Ralph and Elsie Fischer in Cleveland Ohio where she grew up. Louise decided to defy the odds and become a Registered Nurse even though some of her high school teachers said she didn’t have what it takes. Her mom, Elsie Fischer, also thought she should stick with something a little more traditional than all of that schooling and traveling. She was tenacious and an overcomer, she stood up against the odds and overcame the opposition. (Maybe that is one of the reasons why dad and mom were so tightly knit together). Upon graduating from St. Luke's some of the graduating class decided to travel and visit California as a group. Once they arrived in Modesto California, she met a handsome man named James Lavelle, who later would become her husband. James and Louise were married sometime later and welcomed their first child Jeff. A few years later James decided to go back to school to continue his education, leaving Louise as the primary provider for the family. Later the moved back to Ohio to live closer to Ralph and Elsie Fischer, because the cost of living was cheap. That way James could attend and finish college, and Elsie could watch the kids. They also could live in their house rent free in a couple of extra rooms that were available. From that point on, the Cleveland area of Ohio was their home. Once settled in Avon Lake Ohio Louise and James welcomed their second child Leslie. After both of kids were grown and gone, Louise went back to school and graduated Bowling Green with a Masters in Nursing. She was always caring for others, and knew how to mend all the boo-boos in the neighborhood. She taught her children about triage and also how germs and infections could take root. After many years Louise decided to retire from nursing. She and James decided to spend their retirement years in the sunshine state of Florida. Being ‘Retired’ was short lived because they both began to find other types of work. Both Louise and James decided retirement was not for them as neither of them was able to sit and relax for any length of time. Louise continued her studies in medicine and some in politics. She also shared her love for her faith with her family and friends. She loved to dance with James around the home and spend any free time she had with her family. Louise was considered the life of the party as she was always ready for anyone who would come and visit. She enjoyed cooking and having family meals together. She would have beds ready and made any visitor feel special. James also loved having people over and to break bread with them. They always made many friends wherever they were and were always willing to help others. It is a testimony in itself that they stayed together, even during the toughest of times. We rejoice that they are together forever in heaven with God, Jesus, friends, and family. It was a true honor to be their son and daughter. The grandkids and great-grandkids all knew them and miss them as well. Many fond and funny memories. Many times, of laughter and joy. They both will be missed dearly but their memories will live on in the lives they touched and cherished.
