Lowel James Housman
February 16th, 1926 - February 10th, 2012
CARMEL ? Bud, 85, died quietly and gently at home, one week before he would have celebrated his 86th birthday. He had dealt with cancer for ten years. Special thanks goes out to Mark, Debbi and Michael. Bud was raised in Minnesota and moved with his family to Centralia, Washington in 1941 and graduated from high school in 1944. He entered the Army Air Force upon graduation and after training he was sent to Germany for two years in charge of pre-flight inspection of all fighter planes and he never lost an aircraft. Upon return to Washington State, high school sweethearts, Bud and Audie married in 1947. He entered Centralia Junior College followed by four years at the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in business, graduating in 1950. He entered the business world in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. In 1963 he was offered a position of assistant manager of a wholesale hardware business in Burlingame, CA and promoted to manager. He resided with his family in Palo Alto and commuted. After the wholesale business job in Burlingame, he worked for another wholesale hardware business as a representative of administering and acquiring businesses. Upon retirement, Bud and family moved to Carmel to purchase Carmel Hardware on Dolores St., between Ocean Ave. and 7th St., which they operated for some twenty five years. They built their home on Mal Paso Canyon with friends and family. Bud and Audie have four children, Deborah, Kristen, Mark and Michael. Three of the children moved to Carmel with the exception of Kristi who resides in Ukiah with her husband Charles. Bud was a great dart player and he and Audie met with a group once a week to play in each other?s? homes Bud was a member of the Sanctuary Bible Church of Carmel Valley. Relatives will be traveling from Washington State and No. California to gather together at his nephew Ronn and his wife Missy?s home for a private family celebration of Bud?s life. We are grandparents to their children, Golden, Audrie and Lane. Bud was preceded in death by his father Alva, mother Bertha and sisters, Cleone and Maxine. He is survived by his three sisters, Frances, Shirley and Sandra; his wife, Audrey; four children; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Cooper, Charlie, and Ashley and great grandchildren, Austin, Delaney and Gavin. How he loved our times with our grandchildren and our dog, Fido! Audie salutes Bud, with ?My Buddy, My Buddy ? Your Buddy Misses you.?
