Bruce Wayne Young, born in Henderson, Kentucky in March 1951, passed away on December 8, 2022 after a brief hospitalization. He was surrounded by his wife and daughters. Bruce spent his young life in Kentucky, but grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from University City High School in 1969, where he met the love of his life, Debbi. Bruce completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, and later earned a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. Married in 1980, Bruce and Deb built a beautiful family over their forty-two years together. Bruce enlisted in the United States Army, where he discovered one of his biggest passions, photography. Later his call to service led him to attend OTS, fulfilling his dream of becoming a career officer in The United States Air Force. He was a proud Missileer for nineteen years, and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1999. The Air Force was the source of many of his proudest accomplishments and where he and Deb met many lifelong friends, who would also become family. First stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, Bruce and Deb welcomed their beloved daughters, Jacquelin and Courtney. Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska; F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama were the bases where his family and career grew. After retiring from the Air Force, Bruce worked as a Defense Contractor for Aero Thermo Technology and Jacobs Technology. Bruce adored his "Super Seven" (grandchildren) who believed that their Bruce Wayne was the real Batman. He loved a day spent on the golf course with friends, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, a good cheeseburger (ketchup only) with a cold beer, a double scoop of strawberry ice cream, Broncos football, Cardinals baseball, and more than anything, traveling - usually with golf clubs in hand -- with his wife. Bruce never met a stranger. He was a caring friend, and will be missed by so many for his charm and wit. His family has lost their protector and patriarch. Forever and always, Bruce. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary Ellen Young; father-in-law, Don Kuhn; and brother-in-law, James Clavin. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Jacquelin (Tobias) Ingolia and Courtney (William) Palmer; grandchildren, Avery, Andon, Cade, and Kellen Ingolia and William, Jack, and Elle Palmer; brother, Mark (Sharon) Young; sisters-in-law, Kristin Clavin and Sheri (Rick) Shapiro; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
