Lieutenant Neil Warren Lundby, U.S. Navy, (Ret.) peacefully passed away on July 6, 2016. Neil had an illustrious twenty year career with the United States Navy. He served as an enlisted sailor on the USS Midway, and later commissioned through the Navy's "Mustang" program. He was stationed in Washington, Virginia, Hawaii, and California. Neil's second career was with Sperry Univac (now Honeywell). He and Sharon then retired to Colorado Springs to be near their son and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.Neil was born on May 10, 1938 in Fairview, Montana to Christian and Violet (Foss) Lundby. He graduated from high school in Williston, North Dakota (1956); then attended NDSU on a football scholarship. Neil married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sharon Joan Sletting, on June 7, 1958 in Minot, North Dakota.Neil loved spending time with his family, hiking, fishing, playing cards, and woodworking. Neil was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Colorado Springs.He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, of Colorado Springs; his son, David (Christi) Lundby of Marble Falls, Texas; his grandchildren, Leanne (Jon) Micheel of Denver, Kristy (Cody) Schumann of Colorado Springs and Eric (Gina) Lundby of Broomfield; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Kynlee. Neil has three step-grandchildren, Christopher Livers, Hannah Livers and Caitlyn Dossey, all of Marble Falls. He is also survived by his brother, Dale (Marilynn) Lundby of Billings, Montana and his sister Nancy (James) McCarthy of Sanford, Florida.He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Terri Kay Lundby.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Friday, July 15, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, 1515 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
