Ludwig “Luddy” McDermott Bost, 89, died in North Port, FL on December 10, 2010. He was born November 7, 1921 at the family home on Beggs Street in the Lincoln Place area of Pittsburgh, PA where he lived for the first 55 years of his life. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. Wounded in combat, he was hospitalized in Australia where he met Valerie Oberhardt, his loving wife of 66 years. Luddy returned from the war and was employed by U.S. Steel at the Homestead Plant as a Foreman. After retiring, Luddy and Val moved to Delray Beach, FL and eventually became longtime residents of Holiday Park in North Port, FL. He was a member of San Pedro Roman Catholic Church and the VFW. Lud was always ready with a story or joke and as an avid Steeler Fan his “Terrible Towel” was always at hand. He is survived by his wife Valerie Bost; sons Bob, Larry, and daughter-in-law Cathi Killingsworth Bost.
