March 12, 1930 - July 9, 2015 Born during the Depression…died feeling like he was the wealthiest man alive. Married to Nancyellen, the love of his life for 62 years, raised 5 kids in a high-energy household. Lyle's career spanned nearly half a century, ending with 37 years with the St. Paul Public Schools. As a life-long learner he held the positions of teacher, principal, counselor, NYC Project Director, administrator/Learning Centers, coordinator/Magnet Programs, Director of Community Ed. Proceeded in death by parents Philip and Myrtle Swanson, brothers Gerald and Dean. Survived by wife, Nancyellen, sons, Jeff (Kippie), Wade (Cyndy), daughters, Lynn, Becky (Stefan), Lori (Dan) and 4 grandchildren, Ryne, Croix, Sophie, Riley, two step-grandchildren, Ilie, Ben, and brothers Glen (Betsy), Russ (Lois). Special thanks to St. Therese at St. Odilia Hospice, Philippe Gallandat, Bette Svendsen and Darla Garvey for their loving care. A Celebration of Lyle‘s Life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 4-8pm at the MN Boat Club, (1 S. Wabasha St., St Paul) on Raspberry Island . Program begins at 5pm. Memorials to St Paul Comm. Ed Youth Scholarship Fund.
