Madeline Mary Falardeau

Madeline Mary Falardeau of Winter Haven, Florida passed away Friday, January 5th, 2024. She was born February 7th, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Madeline was one of eight children of the late Dr. Phillip M. Dattalo and Madeline A. Dattalo. Madeline served as a Deputy Sheriff in Volusia County Florida, where she met and later married Internal Affairs Officer, retired military officer Richard W. Falardeau. In 1984 she moved to Brigantine, New Jersey where her family vacationed at their shore house every summer growing up. She then created, founded, owned and operated the Candy & Custard Shoppe in Brigantine, which remains a popular Ice Cream Shop on Brigantine Island today. She loved her store and the joy it brought to the community. Madeline and her long-time partner Steve Sutton moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 2014. She loved, painting, antiquing, music, attending the Mecum auction, cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, and the relaxing lifestyle and sunshine of Florida. She is preceded in death by father Dr.Phillip M. Dattalo, mother Madeline A. Dattalo, brother Phillip Jr, sister Patricia Brunetti, brother Joseph, sister Rosalie Neuterman, and Steve Sutton. She is survived by her daughter Tiffany (James) West and her grandchildren Alexa Marie West and Jake James West, her brother Michael (Donna) Dattalo, sister Carol (Louis) Flem. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. Madeline was full of life and laughter. She was an amazing mother. Her greatest love was being a grandmother “Gmom” to Alexa and Jake. They brought her the “greatest joy” in life. A celebration of her life will be held this summer in New Jersey.
