Mementos

Our beautiful angel passed away peacefully in the arms of her parents on the evening of May 16, 2024, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. She was born on May 15, 2024, at 2:06 p.m. During her short day here on earth, she touched lives and was loved deeply by family and friends. She was the daughter of Whitney Thompson and Levar McFadden of Columbia, SC. Malani,is survived by three sisters: Janiah King and Surah Tomlin of the home, and Jamiyah McFadden of Florence, SC; her paternal grandmother, Tonya Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; maternal grandparents: Joeann (Jerome) Daniels of Florence, SC, and Albert (Lamandra) Waring of PA; three aunts: Okina Thompson and LaTanya Johnson of Philadelphia, PA and Aziyyah Waring of Passaic, NJ; one uncle, Marvin Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of relatives and friends of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. For those wishing to view the service, it will be available to family and friends through the following link beginning at 1pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/f24059704337255 Your little hands so soft and still, we held them in our own, while wishing we had more than just a handprint coming home. We studied every nail, line and every inch of your hands and cried for all the things your little hands would never do. We will never get to clean your hands, nor see your fingers point to things. We would never get to hear you splashing the water of your baths nor how you would cover your lips while trying not to laugh. We wish so much we could have taught you, from how to print your name or watch your little hands outstretched to playing a catching game. Your little hands will never get to feel a scrape or gain a scar, nor will they play an instrument or learn to drive a car. Your little hands are our precious little hands, which will forever leave unchanging. No exploring, falling, climbing, drawing nor aging. We wished that we had more time! Love, Mommy and Daddy

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
