Marcelino Clisanto Baca Sr., affectionately known as Mars, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 86. Born on August 21, 1938, in Willard, New Mexico, Mars dedicated his life to his family and his work, embodying the essence of hard work and devotion.

Mars's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. He commenced his professional journey with Denver Public Schools before transitioning to a role in landscaping with Sabells. He later served as an armored guard for Loomis Fargo and finally, found joy in greeting people at Walmart, where his warm smile and gentle demeanor were cherished by many.

A veteran of the Army, Mars served for two years, during which he upheld the values of dedication and service which he carried throughout his life. His hobbies included trips to Blackhawk, where he enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, and landscaping, a passion that allowed him to connect with nature and beautify his surroundings. Mars was a huge Broncos fan and enjoyed watching them play. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV. He lost his two dogs, Andy and Sissy, that he cared for very much. He had a new dog companion, Angela, that he leaves behind.

Mars is survived by his loving wife, Lucy, and a large family that includes his brother Mike Baca (Arlene), his daughter Guadalupe Saiz, his son Marcelino Baca Jr. (Alberta), and his grandchildren Monique Flores (Fernando), Christina Saldaña, Aaron Baca, Andrew Garcia (Michelle), Jeremy Baca, along with his cherished great-grandchildren Jayden Moscato, Madelyn Moscato, Andi Garcia, Christian Garcia, Jordynn Saldaña, Zachariah Garcia, Gabriella Garcia, and Fernando Flores. Mars also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dionicio and Guadalupe Baca, and his siblings Alcario Baca, Antonio Chavez, Porfiria Rivera, Carmen Campos, Willie Baca, Richard Baca, Ernesto Baca, and Joaquin Baca.

We encourage broncos gear to be worn to celebrate Marcelino’s life.
