Maggie Christensen, 82, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs. Maggie was born March 21, 1932, to Alfred and Gertrude Wood of Staunton, Virginia. She was the youngest of six children who grew up on a rural farm. Memorable moments: riding a horse to school in snow “higher than the fence posts”, churning butter and raising 4-H cows to “earn money for school cloths”, and helping her mother tend her garden and can the home grown fruits and vegetables. She loved traveling with her family and husband, an Air Force officer, from Germany to California, Florida to Alaska, and many points in between. She especially loved living in Colorado, or to use her words, ”in God’s Country”. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Roger, two daughters, Patricia (and husband Ivan) Scott of Green Bay, Wisconsin; granddaughters Amanda (and husband Adam) and great granddaughter Xenia Aufdermauer, and Darcie (and husband Leonard) Mosby, both of Ft. Bragg, California; and Gail (and husband Wesley), and granddaughters Shannon and Loren Spence of Coronado, California. A Memorial Service will be held in the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue, on December 14, 2014, at 3:00 PM. A Reception will follow. Memorials in Maggie’s name may be made to the American Stroke Foundation via americanstroke.org/donate
