Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Margaret Anne Christensen
June 21st, 1926 - September 8th, 2016
Margaret "Anne" Christensen, age 90, resident of Marina, CA for 50 years, passed away on September 8, 2016. She was born near Albion, Nebraska, June 21, 1926, to Arthur and Helen Briese. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert (wife Nidra) and Marvin (wife Agnes), and by her son James. Anne graduated from Albion High School and Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, with a BA in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in the small rural school she attended as a child. In later years she taught in Loretto, NE; Powell, WY; Portland, OR; Anchorage, AK; and Regensburg, Germany. On June 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Nels O. Christensen from Brookings, SD, at the Fort Richardson Post Chapel, Fort Richardson, AK. Two sons, James and Scott, were born to this union. After her husband's military retirement, the family returned to CA and retired in Marina. In later years, Anne worked in the Monterey, CA area at Tri-City Real Estate; Becky Self Associates; and Marina Beach Real Estate. Family time, bridge, and line dancing were favorite pastimes of hers. Survivors include son Scott (Michele) Christensen; daughter-in-law Rosemarie (James) Christensen and their children Daniel and Emma; as well as the John Jacobi Family; the Randy Niedhardt Family; the Jeffrey Briese Family; and the Jane Parker Family. Respecting her wish, the funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the donors' favorite charities. "Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life." Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi,
