WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Margaret McCain Joy, 90, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Holland Avenue Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles M. Wilson. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Joy, beloved wife of 68 years of the late J.W. "Bill" Joy, passed away on August 10, 2012. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur McCain, Sr., and Carrie Louise Boland McCain. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Joy worked as a bookkeeper for many years for Forest Lake Country Club. She also enjoyed playing the piano. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her daughters, Peggy Edens (J.P.) of West Columbia and Donna Haltiwanger (Charles) of Fletcher, NC; grandchildren, Tara Jones (Mike), Joy Mingie (Scott), Jamie Gilligan (Joe) and Charles Haltiwanger; sister, Roberta Jennings McCain of West Columbia; brothers, George McCain (Beverly) of West Columbia and Marshall McCain (Corine) of Columbia. She was preceded in death by husband and parents; sister, Dot Franklin; brothers, John C. McCain and William A. McCain, Jr.
