CHARLESTON—Service for Margaret Montgomery, 82, of Charleston, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Dr. Tommy Huddleston, Reverend Shay Montgomery Greene and Reverend Eddie Bunton will officiate. Entombment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Montgomery died Saturday, July 12, 2014. Born in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Jessie and Ethel George Buchanan, and the widow of the late Jack W. Montgomery. A graduate of Paw Creek High School, Mrs. Montgomery began her career as a secretary at Boggs & Co. in 1950 in Charlotte, NC. She retired as Administrative Assistant from McCain Financial Group in 1998. A 44 year resident of West Columbia, Mrs. Montgomery had lived in Charleston, SC since the death of her husband in 2009. She resided at Ashley River Plantation. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Glenda Montgomery of Charleston, Reverend Shay Montgomery Greene (Jeff) of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, McKenna Crenshaw, Colby Crenshaw and Jordan Greene; her brother, George Buchanan and her sister, Jessie Phillips both of Charlotte, NC. Memorials may be made to Ashley River Baptist Church, Single Ladies Class, 1101 Savannah Hwy., Charleston, SC 29407.
