Maria Santa Marinello
October 10th, 1933 - September 8th, 2011
Maria was born in Scoglitti Sicily Italy, a small fishing village on the south east coast of the island. Her parents were Giuseppe Monachello and Raimonda Cataudella. Siblings Angelo, Angela, Giovanna, Domenico, and Emmanuelle. She attended school until they were closed because of WWII and the invasion of Italy. She married Salvatore Marinello also of Scoglitti in 1959 and thereafter settled in Monterey California. They remained married until his death in April of 1982. In Monterey she was employed for ten years at the Naval Postgraduate School. She gave birth to an only child, Rosario Marinello, in November of 1961. She continued to be a working mom until 1980. She enjoyed traveling and frequently visited her hometown in Sicily, and also enjoyed going to Lake Tahoe. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, and shopping. She is survived by her son Rosario Marinello a Monterey Peninsula resident and graduate of Monterey Peninsula College and Golden Gate University, Brother -in-law Frank Marinello of Salinas, and Brother Domenico Monachello of Scoglitti, Sicily.

Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952.
