Marie Luhman Lucas

Marie Luhman Lucas, 91, of Lexington, passed away January 18, 2015. Born in New York City, NY on November 25th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Luhman and Marie Julianna Bleidl. Her devoted husband of 64 years, Hollis Cecil Lucas, Sr.; daughter, Karen Sue Lucas; son, Kenneth Lee Lucas and sister, Carolyn Luhman Odierna, preceded Marie in death. Those left to cherish her memories and legacy are her loving daughters, Teresa (Don'L) Blevins, Dobson NC, Carolyn (Jim) Neely, Hilton Head SC, Patty (Ernie) Monts, Jayne (Jeff) Schaefer, Linda Lucas Laughlin, all of Lexington SC, Roberta Lucas Vogt, Cape Coral FL, son, Hollis (Miriam) Lucas, Jr., Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Elizabeth Luhman Sohl, Toms River NJ, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, along with a host of other loving relatives & friends that will miss her dearly. She worked tirelessly raising her 9 children and taught them by example. She experienced life with a passion, volunteering her time wherever possible. She was the long time secretary for family businesses and loved to travel. She gave so freely of her time, driven by love & service, sharing her experience, strength and hope with others. A Requiem Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at All Saint's Episcopal Church, 1001 Twelfth Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Interment will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends following the service in the church parish hall. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Girl Scouts of America, American Cancer Society or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
